Sindh Government Declares Shab-e-Qadr Holiday for Schools Ahead of Eid

The Sindh government has officially announced a public holiday for all public and private educational institutions across the province on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr. This decision, as per a notification issued by the School Education & Literacy Department, will see all schools closed on Friday, March 28 (27th Ramadan) in honor of the sacred night.

The announcement comes following a meeting of the sub-committee of the Steering Committee on Education, which was held on November 28, 2024. The committee finalized the holiday schedule to facilitate students and teachers in observing this significant night of worship.

As the holy month of Ramadan nears its conclusion, anticipation for Eid ul Fitr is growing. According to predictions from the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), the Shawwal moon is expected to appear on March 29, with its sighting likely on March 30. Consequently, Eid ul Fitr is anticipated to be celebrated on Monday, March 31.

In line with this, the federal government has also declared official Eid ul Fitr holidays, granting a three-day break. As per the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, public holidays will be observed from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, allowing citizens ample time to celebrate the festive occasion with their families.

With preparations for Eid in full swing, markets and shopping centers across Sindh are witnessing increased activity as people gear up for the joyous festival. The government urges citizens to adhere to safety guidelines while engaging in Eid preparations to ensure a smooth and festive celebration.
